Capcom has been gradually bringing all of its classic titles forward in retro compilations, and the next one up is Capcom Fighting Collection 2. Announced back in August, the collection includes a bunch of exciting old school fighters, and it appears that it won't be long until we get to play them all.
As spotted by Nintendeal on Bluesky, ESRB — North America's games rating authority — has recently posted a rating for this collection:
Usually, when ESRB makes a rating public, it means a game is no more than about six months away. What that means is we could be looking at a release within the first half of 2025, maybe even the first quarter.
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 includes a total of eight games, as well as a music player and museum features:
- Capcom Fighting Evolution
- Capcom vs SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
- Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
- Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein
- Power Stone
- Power Stone 2
- Project Justice
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
Here's hoping this rating means it's coming shortly. Which of these games are you excited to play? Let us know in the comments section below.

A January release will be great.
Omg this sounds excellent
I have CVSNK 2 (PS2) off the PS3 PSN it has a glitch when you boot up it disabled the controller and you have to power it up again it does that for a few of the PS2 games I own.
Bought physical copy of Capcom Fighting Collection 1 and MvC Collection on day 1. But for this one i'll wait for a sale.
I had enough of buying old fighting games collection that doesn't have crossplay and only a few people playing it where most of them used Wifi or just live in different region. What worst, the collection became a ghost town after a month or two.
@PuppetMaster they pretty much do become a ghost town unfortunately. For the MvC collection, I still see people playing MVC2 but at most times I just wanna play X-Men vs Street Fighter or Marvel Super Heroes which is a bit harder to find people to play. They are good to have if you want to get down on these games with a friend though.
@shonenjump86 It feels like most people bought MvC Collection just for MvC 2. I got a few matches for MvC 2 after waiting like 20-30 minutes, which sadly all of them was quite laggy. But for beginners like me, learning MvC 2 is quite overwhelming with how complicated the mechanics and big roster.
So i wanted to start with X-Men CotA, Marvel Super Heroes, or X-Men vs SF that has smaller roster and less complicated mechanics. But sadly no ones plays those games in ranked or lobby :/
I just don't understand why these collection doesn't have crossplay. Nowadays these old games doesn't have plenty of people playing it. Meanwhile most young gamers wouldn't want to play old fighting games like X-Men vs SF, MvC 2, or Darkstalkers because they either stick with current fighting games like SF 6, Tekken 8, GG Strive, or MK or playing Fortnite and COD. So crossplay definitely will help the player pools.
